Individuals who are charged with or convicted of a federal offense are especially vulnerable to symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression. Some individuals become suicidal and attempt suicide as a cry for help; in some cases, they succeed in ending their lives. Probation officers are aware of these risk factors and have many resources available to help persons under supervision who are experiencing mental health symptoms and/or are suicidal.
If you are experiencing mental health issues, talk with your probation officer about obtaining treatment. Your probation officer will assist you and can also discuss referring you to treatment through contracted funds. The following mental health treatment agencies are available and easy to access.
