It is my honor to serve as an employee of the United States Court. I embrace the court's mandate to ensure fairness and equal justice for all people and fully accept my role in the criminal justice process. I am proud to be a member of the United States Probation and Pretrial Services System and part of a long-standing tradition of dedicated service to the court and the community. I agree to the following principles, which guide my work and define my commitment to excellence.

The court's various components-each with its own purpose and responsibilities-provide distinct services but also work together to further the court's mandate. I will serve the court by supporting the vital mission of the probation and pretrial services system, by upholding the system's high standards, and by working diligently to carry out my duties as part of the court and the system.

The court is a public institution that performs an essential service for the people and the nation. I will support the court’s role to serve the community, support the probation and pretrial services system's role to protect the community, and perform my duties in a way that merits the confidence and respect of the public.

The concept of fairness and equal justice for all citizens is the foundation on which the court is built. I will apply this concept to my day-to-day work by treating with dignity and respect all persons with whom my job brings me into contact.

The court's reputation for integrity is the basis of the public's trust in the court and its decisions. I will earn trust by carrying out my responsibilities with honesty and integrity and by conducting myself as befitting a representative of the court and of the probation and pretrial services system.

Many participants have a hand in the justice process, and all of them must work in harmony if the process is to run smoothly. I will do my part by being cooperative with and responsive to colleagues in my court, in the probation and pretrial services system, and in other agencies.

The success and solid reputation of the court reflects the hard work and dedication of all court employees. I will strive for the highest possible standards of performance by fulfilling my duties to the best of my ability, enhancing my knowledge, refining my skills, and seeking continuous improvement.
